The Perth Guitar Quartet are thrilled to be performing in Cappuccino Concerts' 2018 Grove Classics Concert Series with our concert, titled "Landscapes"!
The music in this program draws inspiration from the world and scenes around us: from Australia’s vast changing land as viewed from a fast car on a highway, to French Impressionism, the lively dance music of South America, the contrast between large stone monuments and small precious stones, even the music of David Bowie.
Join us for an unforgettable evocative journey.
All Grove Classics 2018 performances feature BLACK BOX Visual Arts Studio Art Show exhibiting the work of Australian and international artists. All artworks are for sale.
Enjoy a complimentary wine and the intimacy of superb chamber music in the comfortable environment of the state-of-the-art The Grove Library building.

I am looking forward to working with the Perth Guitar Quartet, the UWA Conservatorium of Music, the UWA Centre for Social Impact, and the WA Alliance to End Homelessness (WAAEH) in this once-in-a-lifetime community event.
In 1971 composer Gavin Bryars arranged a piece of music based on a loop of an unknown homeless man singing a brief stanza. Almost 50 years later, homelessness is still a huge issue for so many in our community. This incredibly powerful and poignant piece is being used to raise awareness about the #EndHomelessnessWA campaign
On Friday April 13, a recording of this loop playing will be pushed around Hay & Murray St malls on a trolley. Ensembles (including the Perth Guitar Quartet) will be stationed throughout the malls and will sing/play a simple 12 bar arrangement as the trolley passes. Ensembles will then move to Forrest Place and join together in a powerful finale of hundreds of performers accompanying the recording of the homeless man.
Everyone deserves a home, and together we can end homelessness in WA.
The Perth Guitar Quartet were shocked and saddened at the sudden passing of Phillip Houghton at the end of September this year. While tribute concerts have taken place on the east coast, we have decided to hold our own on the west coast.
This special evening will feature a range of Houghton's works, from solos through to quartets, all presented by the Perth Guitar Quartet, and featuring guest artist Shayne Harris.
Come and be transported into the evocative sound world - an unmissable event.
I will be playing in the Guitar Society Orchestra for their end-of-year concert.
Also featured at this concert will be the amazing UWA Moretti Ensemble, performing Nigel Westlake's Six Fish. Performed on a mix of classical guitars, dobro and a 12-string guitar, this is a special performance, not to be missed!
Tickets available online soon: $25 Adults, $20 Conc., $15 members
Door prices: $28 Adults, $23 conc., $18 members.
Tune in to Plucked Strings on RTR 92.1FM on Sunday, November 5, 6-7pm to hear me discuss my PhD research with host, Graham Hawkes. Some of my recordings of Westlake's works will be featured on the program, along with some of my other favourite recordings!
